EU Foreign Affairs Council: largest cyber sanctions package adopted, 21st Russia package blocked

The Foreign Affairs Council adopted new listings against Russia's cyber ecosystem (hackers, criminals, IT firms) — according to the EU the most comprehensive cyber sanctions package in its history — as well as human rights listings; according to media reports around 250 individuals and companies in total. The actual 21st sanctions package failed for now over a dispute about fisheries sanctions (Russian cod/whiting), on which Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and France are economically dependent.

EU foreign policy chief Kallas: agreement on the 21st package is 'close'; there is additionally a dispute over a visa ban for former Russian combatants (reportedly, eunews.it).
