Announced on 24 September 2026: LTG Infra has started building the first charging station for battery trains in the Baltic states at Varėna, where the foundations of the future stop are being poured. With the new LTG Link battery trains, passengers are to reach Varėna even over the non-electrified section: trains charge at 2 to 2.5 MW through a pantograph while passengers board and alight, for up to 45 minutes depending on battery level, and the equipment connects to the 10 kV medium-voltage grid and sits in standard 12-metre sea containers. Completion is planned by the end of 2026 at a value of EUR 3.2 million, and further stations in other towns are foreseen. The date is a placeholder: the article gives only the end of 2026 as the deadline. (LOK Report, 24 Sep 2026)
