The new double-track section between Stokke and Sandefjord is intended to complete the Vestfold Line's double track between Tønsberg and Larvik and raise train frequency between Oslo and Skien to two trains per hour in each direction. A municipal sub-plan has been approved, and in June 2025 Bane NOR was mandated to begin detailed planning; construction start and a specific investment figure are not yet fixed. According to the project list, completion of the full Tønsberg–Larvik expansion is targeted for 2032.
