The Parndorf–Kittsee railway line (Neusiedl am See district, Burgenland) is currently single-track and electrified (approx. 24 km), connecting via the Kittsee state border to Bratislava-Petržalka in Slovakia — not Slovenia, as incorrectly stated in the source list. On 24 February 2026 the transport ministers of Austria (Peter Hanke) and Slovakia (Jozef Ráž) signed a declaration of intent providing for double-tracking of this section as part of a wider package (including a new Airport Link from Vienna Airport to Bruck an der Leitha, ETCS equipment, and denser Vienna–Bratislava service). The declaration specifies no concrete costs or binding completion date; the Slovak connecting section (Bratislava-Petržalka–state border) is still only in long-term planning, so the 2038 target horizon given in the source list is plausible but not officially confirmed.
