On 5 August 2025 the roughly 5 km double-track section between Lunghezza and Bagni di Tivoli (now Tivoli Terme) on the Rome–Pescara (Rome–Sulmona–Pescara) railway went into operation, the first of three construction phases of the wider Lunghezza–Guidonia project. Bagni di Tivoli station was completely rebuilt (new underpass, raised platforms, accessibility upgrades), allowing the FL2 suburban line to run at up to 15-minute frequency. Phase two (new Guidonia Collefiorito station) is expected in early 2026, while phase three (the remaining approx. 3 km) is still going through the approval process.
