Amazon to close all Fresh and Go stores in the US

Amazon is withdrawing from operating Amazon-owned grocery stores and closing all Amazon Fresh grocery stores as well as Amazon Go convenience stores in the USA. Reason: Amazon was unable to create a 'truly compelling differentiated customer experience' with an economic model that supports large-scale expansion. Some affected locations are to be converted into Whole Foods stores (Amazon takeover 2017). Amazon will in future focus on Whole Foods and grocery delivery services rather than keeping underperforming concepts in limbo.
