After the operating periods of 1944–1976 and 1988–2007, Innsbruck is introducing trolleybuses for the third time: Austria and the city have decided to set up lines C and R as an IMC system first, and from 2029 the night lines N1 and N3 are also to run with trolleybuses. New overhead wire is to be installed along 18.2 km of route, served by 20 new Hess/Siemens vehicles (Light Tram); funding for this first step is secured from federal funds, and a larger urban and regional system is under consideration. Reported on 26 April 2026. The date is a placeholder: the article gives only the year 2029. (LOK Report, 26 Apr 2026)
