On 16 July 2026 the Swedish government approved construction of the Fyrskeppet offshore wind farm (project company Fyrskeppet Offshore AB, developer Skyborn Renewables): up to 93 turbines with expected annual output of 8 to 11 TWh and a completion deadline of 2036. A separate permit for the subsea grid connection cables is still required. In the same decision the government rejected eleven other offshore applications — among them Mareld, Najaderna and Västvind — on the grounds that they would unacceptably impair Sweden's defence capability. According to SVT, Skyborn is calling for state support (risk sharing, cheap loans or price guarantees), arguing the project is otherwise not viable. Approved on 16 Jul 2026. The date is a placeholder: the permit sets a completion deadline of 2036; no construction schedule is known.
