On 17 Apr 2026 HŽ Infrastruktura signed the contract with Spanish construction firm COMSA for rebuilding the existing line and adding a second track over 44 km between Hrvatski Leskovac and Karlovac, including electrification and new signalling for up to 160 km/h. Completion is planned within three years, i.e. 2029; 31 Dec 2029 is a placeholder. The EU co-finances through the Competitiveness and Cohesion programme 2021-2027. Announced on 17 Apr 2026 (Croatia Week, 18 Apr 2026).
