Prague's tram network is gaining two new sections: the roughly 2 km, six-stop Olšanská–Habrová line, built across the former Žižkov freight yard to the new Jarov neighbourhood, extends Line 5 (construction contract about CZK 599 million, works starting Q3 2026, 12-month build time, opening reported for spring 2027). In parallel, the 1.22 km double-track Malovanka–Strahov line (built 2025–2027, total cost about CZK 1.11 billion, of which roughly CZK 776 million is EU-funded) will carry the new Lines 28 (a student shuttle linking Strahov, Vítězné náměstí and Podbaba) and 29 (Strahov to Hradčanská and Masarykovo nádraží); several sources report opening by the end of 2027. Both projects are part of a six-line expansion programme by Prague transit operator DPP, co-financed by the EU.
