The U1 line was extended 4.6 km from Reumannplatz to the new southern terminus Oberlaa, adding five new stations (Troststraße, Altes Landgut, Alaudagasse, Neulaa, Oberlaa). Construction took about five years starting summer 2012, with an investment of roughly EUR 600 million; this made the U1, at 19.2 km, Vienna's longest metro line. Around 50,000 residents of the Favoriten district gained direct subway access as a result.
