EU halts Growth Plan payments to Serbia

- Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos says on 30 Apr 2026 that Growth Plan payments to Serbia are stopped because of setbacks in the judiciary
Serbia has been allocated about €1.5bn for 2024–2027; the second tranche (requested July 2025) is pending
Serbian officials deny a formal freezing decision. The opening of cluster 3 of the accession talks also stayed blocked in July by eight member states (European Western Balkans, 4 May and 8 Jul 2026).
