Funds managed by InfraRed Capital Partners agreed on 28 September 2026 to acquire 100% of Hector Rail AB, Scandinavia's largest private rail freight operator, from Ancala, which had held it since 2020. Hector Rail (founded in 2004) has just over 300 train drivers including its German branches and a fleet of more than 100 locomotives, and runs cross-border services between Scandinavia and Germany. InfraRed plans to fund additional locomotives and a large maintenance and modernisation programme; the report gives no price, and completion, subject to the usual regulatory conditions, is expected at the end of 2026.
