ÖBB is modernising the Puchberger Bahn in the Schneeberg region comprehensively; official approval is in place and the total volume is EUR 144.4 million. Four stations, including Rothengrub and Pfennigbach, have already been renewed; now the rebuilding of seven more between Bad Fischau-Brunn and Puchberg am Schneeberg (including Winzendorf, Urschendorf, Willendorf and both Grünbach stations) begins and runs until September 2027, with new platforms and step-free access, new track and switches, bridge renewals, an electronic interlocking at Bad Fischau-Brunn and new signals and barrier systems. The line equipment will allow a half-hourly service and creates the conditions for battery trains. Announced on 26 August 2026. The date is a placeholder: the article gives only the month September 2027 for the end of the station rebuilds. (LOK Report, 26 Aug 2026)
