The EUR 270 million contract, awarded in 2021, covers the complete replacement of the signalling system across the 86 km network and the integration of the 8 km Fornebubanen with six stations; no completion date for the whole network is given. According to Siemens, capacity rises from 28 to 36 trains per hour (about 30 per cent), with up to 40 technically possible, and Oslo is the first metro in Europe to use public LTE mobile networks for safety-critical train control.
