Running at half-hourly intervals, it strengthens the southern belt line (Cintura Sud) and, together with lines S9 and R31, raises capacity to up to five trains per hour; it also improves access to the Olympic Village via Milano Scalo Romana station ahead of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
