Romania's government approved on 03.09.2026 around 8 million lei (total compensation approx. 13.94 million lei) for expropriations along the planned new 400 kV Gădălin–Suceava overhead line (approx. 260 km through 40 municipalities in Cluj, Bistrița-Năsăud and Suceava counties), which will close the national 400 kV ring and support greater renewable integration; the total construction cost itself was not stated in the source (Juridice.ro, 03.09.2026, government session of 03.09.2026). Announced on 03.09.2026 (expropriation decision); construction by Transelectrica with Electromontaj had already begun in October 2025. Update (27.09.2026): The construction contract worth more than RON 688m, partly financed from the Modernisation Fund, provides for a 69-month execution period, which points to completion around mid-2031; the date 31.12.2031 is a placeholder (Forbes România, 21.10.2025).
