IKEA has announced a €130m budget for Romania covering 2027 to 2029: €125m for ten new customer locations and the upgrade of existing stores, and €4.4m for price cuts. About €55m is earmarked for network growth — Craiova, Pitești and Galați are new cities, and in Iași the land has already been bought — and about €70m for the existing estate, including more than €60m to rebuild its oldest store at Băneasa in Bucharest. The plan covers both small formats from around 400 sq m and large stores; roughly 300 jobs are foreseen for the new locations, alongside partnerships with other retailers on the UK model. CEO Ekaterina Egorova says Romania is the priority for the next three years, with investment also planned in Croatia, Slovakia and Serbia (Economica.net, 7 Oct 2026; second source: Ziarul Financiar, 7 Oct 2026).
