Postnord Denmark ends letter delivery, cutting 1,500 jobs

Letter volume down 90% since 2000. Postnord is discontinuing all letters as of 31 December 2025; focus on parcel delivery. Private competitor (Dao) takes over letter delivery.
Denmark is the first European country to do so. Postnord is cutting 1,500 of its 4,600 jobs in Denmark (The Local, 06.03.2025). 1,500 red postboxes are being removed by the end of the year; 1,000 were sold online from mid-December (EUR 200-270, proceeds to charity). A further 200 will be auctioned from January.
