With the inauguration on 17 June 2026, DSB opened a new maintenance centre in Brabrand near Aarhus for its coming IC5 trains; the investment totals DKK 2.32 billion. The 30-hectare site has a hall of just under 20,000 m² with eight covered tracks (three of them lifting tracks), about nine kilometres of new track and room to maintain more than 80 trainsets; a photovoltaic plant is expected to cover about 60% of annual power use. The depot is to be handed over to Alstom in the coming months, which will maintain the new IC5 fleet, and is DSB's third new train workshop for the switch to electric operation, after those in Copenhagen and Mogenstrup near Næstved (LOK Report, 23 Jun 2026). Update (23 June 2026): DSB inaugurated the IC5 workshop in Brabrand on 17 June 2026; handover to Alstom for maintenance follows in the coming months. (LOK Report, 23 June 2026)
