Diehl Aviation opens new Craiova plant, aiming for 500 jobs

German aerospace supplier Diehl Aviation formally brought its new manufacturing plant in the Craiova Business Park in south-western Romania into operation on 29 July 2026. On a 33,500 m² site it built 12,000 m² of production space and 2,500 m² of offices for components used in commercial aircraft programmes; Banca Comercială Română financed the construction with €12.7m. Around 75 people currently work at the site, rising to as many as 500 as production ramps up, and Diehl has secured an option to expand capacity later. Romanian reporting (profit.ro) puts the total investment in a range of €15m to €30m; no official figure has been published.
