Tesla Gigafactory Grünheide: the number of employees fell from 12,415 (works council election 2024) to 10,703 (currently) = ~14% decline. This corresponds to ~1,700 jobs lost, well above Elon Musk's original announcement (April 2024: ~400 jobs for Grünheide). Musk had wanted to cut >10% worldwide; for Grünheide there were allegedly no mass layoffs planned, only the termination of temporary workers (300) plus voluntary programmes (400). Plant management insisted until the very end that there were no plans for a production halt or staff cuts, despite a 50% drop in new Tesla registrations in Germany (Jan-Sept 2025 vs. the prior year).
