For Copenhagen's new driverless metro line M5, Metroselskabet I/S is seeking a contractor for the transport system through an EU-wide competitive dialogue; the line is to run as a standalone system alongside M1–M4 and connect development areas such as Kløverparken, Refshaleøen and Lynetteholm. Phase 1 starts at Copenhagen Central Station (København H) and ends north of Prags Boulevard, and is due to open in 2036, while the last part of the northern section is planned for 2045 and is included in the contract as an option. The package covering trains, signalling and a control centre plus maintenance is estimated at EUR 550 million excluding VAT over a 38-year term; requests to participate could be submitted until 25 August 2026, and the procedure was announced on 30 June 2026. The date is a placeholder: only the year 2036 is given (LOK Report, 30 Jun 2026).
