- EU Commission approves €300m Irish state-aid scheme for electricity price relief for energy-intensive industry
Temporary electricity price relief for energy-intensive companies (running to 2029, max. 3 years per beneficiary, €50/MWh price floor) under the Clean Industrial Deal state-aid framework; at least 50% of the aid must be reinvested in decarbonisation projects.
The scheme is designed to counter carbon leakage and safeguard the competitiveness of electricity-intensive Irish industry, while tying the relief to decarbonisation investments (second source: Solar Quarter, 17 July).
