US group Daktronics is withdrawing from its rail, bus and roadway display and control systems business outside North America and is therefore closing its Irish plant in Ennistymon. More than 100 employees are affected (116 in the latest accounts to April 2025); the exit is phased, to about mid-2028 according to the Irish Times. The company expects one-off costs of about US$13.5m and annual savings of about US$7.7m; a redundancy consultation had been running since early September (Irish Times, 14 Oct 2026; second source: RTÉ, 14 Oct 2026).
