Siemens AG (Germany), via its 2011 joint venture Ural Locomotives (Siemens AG / Sinara Group), supplied the Siemens Desiro-based Lastochka ES2G EMUs used on the MCC. Siemens also provided the EBI Lock interlocking signaling technology and holds a 40-year maintenance contract for the Podmoskovnaya depot, including use of the Siemens Railigent condition-monitoring platform.
The Moscow Central Circle (MCC/MZK), a roughly 54 km ring railway around Moscow, opened on 10 September 2016 and serves urban commuter traffic with connections to the metro and mainline rail. The line is operated with Lastochka ES2G trains based on the Siemens Desiro platform, built by the German-Russian joint venture Ural Locomotives; Siemens also supplied signaling technology (EBI Lock) and a long-term maintenance contract for the train depot - a well-documented European industrial involvement.
