Riga expands tram network with new Line 14

Since 1 May 2025, Rīgas Satiksme has operated the new tram line 14 between Iļģuciems and Ķengarags, served by low-floor trams (Škoda 15T type), giving a direct connection from Ķengarags to Pārdaugava without changing trams. The former line 2 was extended to Mīlgrāvis and renamed line 8; on weekends an additional shortened line 8a runs between Stacijas laukums and Tapešu iela. The reorganisation is part of a broader network reform to make better use of the low-floor fleet, linked among other things to track works on Slokas iela; no specific investment figure is stated in the sources.
