Fuel loading completed at Mochovce nuclear plant's fourth unit
- Location
- Mochovce · 🇸🇰 Slovakia
- Project
- Mochovce NPP Unit 4 – fuel loading completed
- Status
- Partial completion
All 349 fuel assemblies have been loaded into the fourth unit (VVER-440, 471 MW) of the Slovak Mochovce NPP; the unit is to reach full load by the end of the year. After that, nuclear power will cover around 77.5% of Slovakia's electricity consumption. Fuel loading reported on 3 Jul 2026. The date is a placeholder: full power is planned by the end of 2026. Update (15 Oct 2026): Unit 4 was synchronised with the grid for the first time at 20:41; the first of two turbogenerators supplies power at 20% reactor power (criticality reached on 6 Aug 2026). The second turbogenerator and tests at rising power up to rated output follow, so commissioning is not yet complete (TASR/teraz.sk, 15 Oct 2026).
