The open-pit zones Alunu, Panga and Vest of the coal-fired plant are affected; closure applies from 16 April until about 31 August 2026. The reasons given are the financial situation, high carbon costs and decarbonisation under the recovery plan (Eurofound ERM, 20 Apr 2026).
