MAN is cutting 2,300 jobs over ten years: Munich 1,300, Salzgitter 600, Nuremberg 400 jobs. IG Metall expects higher figures (Munich up to 2,000, Nuremberg 500) and fears for sites in the long term due to production being relocated to Poland. Planned to be socially responsible without dismissals. Reason: a weakening truck market, high electricity/labour costs, Asian competition.
