On 27 July 2026 the Slovak arm of Turkish automotive supplier Mata Automotive (interior components for premium-segment vehicles) filed for collective redundancy (hromadné prepúšťanie) and will cease operations in the Veľký Krtíš district entirely by 30 November 2026. 119 employees are affected. The company attributes the move to the unfavourable Europe-wide trend in the automotive industry and a fall in customer orders, which prompted management to restructure its business model and withdraw from Slovakia.
