On 30 July 2026 CFR Infrastructură Iași signed a contract worth RON 588,616,798.88 net with the consortium led by Siemens Mobility S.R.L. (with IMSAT S.A. and Elsitel Elektromekanik) to modernise signalling and interlocking systems in the Iași and Galați regions; 26 stations across five sections will receive electronic centralisation. The contract runs for 30 months (9 months design, 21 months execution) plus a 60-month warranty period — the completion date recorded here is derived from that term and is not an officially announced date. The contract is part of a series renewing Romanian railway signalling nationwide; a first contract for the Cluj and Timișoara regions (around RON 957 million) had already been signed on 21 July 2026. Update (30 Jul 2026): Siemens Mobility reports that, as consortium leader (with ELSITEL and IMSAT), it has won three CFR SA contracts to renew signalling and interlocking technology in the Cluj, Timișoara, Iași and Galați regions, worth around EUR 308 million in total; the Iași and Galați contract recorded here is part of this package. Together the projects cover about 560 route kilometres with 66 stations, 13 control centres, 122 level crossings and more than 2,000 signals; electrodynamic and mechanical interlockings, some of them decades old, are being replaced by modern control and safety technology.
