Report: VW management plans to close four German plants

According to media reports, the VW management board plans to close four German plants as part of the radical group restructuring; Zwickau, Emden, Hannover and Audi Neckarsulm are named. At the Zwickau site alone, around 8,500 direct jobs are at stake. Update 9 July 2026: The supervisory board approved the management board's savings and returns plan but deferred the decision on the four plant closures; neither confirming nor denying the closure plans.
