The freight wagon workshop in Offenburg shut at the end of May 2026, with the last working day for its 30 employees falling at the month-end. It serviced locomotives as well as wagons belonging to major customers such as Mercedes and Badische Stahlwerke. In August 2025 the GDL union had criticised planned job cuts at DB Regio that were to hit ten outlying sites, Offenburg among them (LOK Report, 30 May 2026).
