Hochbahn to open U4 extension to Horner Geest by end-2027

On the U4 extension to Horner Geest, the roughly 600 m tunnel between the new Stoltenstrasse and Horner Geest stops is largely complete in shell construction; track laying has started and all structural work, including the link to the U2/U4 junction east of Horner Rennbahn, is due to finish by the end of 2026. Hochbahn says the schedule holds: opening at the end of 2027, with about 13,000 people gaining a direct U-Bahn connection for the first time and journey times to the city centre almost halved. The topping-out at Horner Geest took place in July 2025; planning for the extension to Grasbrook is complete and the planning approval procedure has started.
