Siemens Mobility and Sonda to supply ETCS for Mexican rail corridor

Siemens Mobility, in a consortium with Sonda México, supplies ETCS Level 1, an operations control centre with backup, SCADA systems and, for the first time in Latin America, the TPS.plan timetable-planning software; Sonda handles telecoms, CCTV and civil works.

Siemens Mobility has won, together with Sonda, the contract for train protection on the 300-plus km corridor from Mexico City via Querétaro to Irapuato, which serves eleven passenger stations. It is the group's first ETCS project in Mexico; the contract value is not disclosed (LOK Report, 26 Mar 2026).
