Bielefeld's Stadtbahn Line 4 (operated by moBiel/BBVG) is being extended about 1.2–1.3 km from the current terminus Lohmannshof, via two new stops, to a new terminus at Dürerstraße/Schloßhofstraße, to serve the university's Campus Nord; the project rests on the binding 2010 land-use plan II/G 21. Planning has been underway since 2009, a notarized framework agreement between the city and the state building authority (BLB) was signed in September 2025, and main construction is now expected to start in 2026/2027. Originally targeted for completion by the end of 2028, more recent reporting (e.g. Westfalen-Blatt, June 2026) now points to an opening in summer 2030.
