euregiobahn reopens line to Stolberg-Altstadt after 2021 flood

A ceremonial RB 20 run on 12 June 2026 put the Stolberg-Rathaus–Stolberg-Altstadt line back into service for the first time since the 2021 floods and formally reopened Stolberg-Altstadt station; regular service starts with the timetable change on 14 June 2026. The event also marked 25 years of the euregiobahn. Work continues on reactivating the line towards Breinig, the Alsdorf-Businesspark halt is due to be finished in 2026, and electrification of the Ringbahn began with a ground-breaking at the start of 2026; no costs are stated (LOK Report, 12 Jun 2026).
