DB InfraGO has been rebuilding the railway bridge over the Schwarzer Regen in the district of Regen since March 2025 (position as of 30 June 2026): alongside the old bridge a steel truss superstructure about 120 m long and weighing 900 t is being assembled, which an 80 m high crawler crane places on the new piers in three segments. In the autumn the new bridge is slid into its final position and the old structure is demolished together with its abutments; the Triefenried–Zwiesel line is therefore closed from 15 September to 16 November 2026, with replacement services provided. Commissioning is planned for mid-November 2026; the old bridge had slowed traffic for years as a slow-speed section because of its poor condition, and two more railway bridges on the line are to follow in turn. The date is a placeholder: mid-November is given, and the end of the line closure on 16 November 2026 is used. (LOK Report, 30 Jun 2026)
