DB InfraGO has announced in the EU Official Journal the award of technical planning services for the Dresden–Bischofswerda / Demitz-Thumitz electrification in three lots: lots 1 and 2 go to BIEGE/BHI Ingenieure, lot 3 to DB Engineering & Consulting. The aim is to enable electric and battery-electric trains in Lusatia, and Saxony plans to switch the Lusatian regional network to electric traction from 2031. On 30 June 2026 the cabinet also released EUR 8 million from the Sachsenfonds for further planning of the whole Dresden–Görlitz line. The date is a placeholder: the article only gives the start of the switch from 2031, not a completion date for the infrastructure. (LOK Report, 21 Sep 2026)
