Karlsruhe's transport company VBK broke ground on 28.10.2026 for the fully rebuilt, step-free funicular extended to the B3 road. Total cost is about EUR 34 million, of which EUR 17.49 million from the state; opening is planned for spring 2028 if construction goes well. The completion date of 31.05.2028 is a placeholder for 'spring 2028'. Announced on 28.10.2026 (LOK Report, 28.10.2026).
