Announced on 8 December 2025: DB subsidiary DB Energie has signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Blue Elephant Energy for a total of about 2.5 TWh of solar power, with terms of up to 13 years. The electricity comes from the Schafhöfen solar park in Bavaria (266 MWp, about 370,000 modules by 2027, its own substation infrastructure and a planned battery store; once completed the second-largest solar park in Germany) and the Aulendorf solar park in Baden-Württemberg (53 MWp); together the two plants generate more than 300 GWh a year and are due to go online by mid-2027. The electricity taken covers about 14 million ICE kilometres a year; Blue Elephant points to three years of development time up to construction readiness, and the report gives no investment sum. The date is a placeholder: the article only says mid-2027, and 30 June 2027 is used. (LOK Report, 8 Dec 2025)
