HGK starts building new depot in Brühl-Vochem for about €7m

Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln (HGK) has started building its new depot (Am Volkspark site) in Brühl-Vochem with a ceremonial first spade-cut and is investing about EUR 7 million in it. Around 180 employees of its Infrastructure and Maintenance division, currently spread across Cologne-Godorf, Wesseling and Brühl-Vochem, are to work together at the site; no new jobs are announced. Construction has been under way since the first quarter of 2026 and handover is planned for summer 2027; HGK operates about 250 km of its own track around Cologne, which also carries Stadtbahn lines 16 and 18 (LOK Report, 17 Apr 2026).
