Seven & i confirms talks on stake in Żabka

Japanese group Seven & i Holdings (7-Eleven) confirmed on 17 July that it is in talks about taking a stake in Polish convenience chain Żabka (around 10,000 stores). No binding decision has been made; figures of several billion USD are reported (unconfirmed). Second source: money.pl. Outcome (25 July 2026): Seven & i Holdings ended the talks about a stake in Żabka without a result. The company said it had been unable to agree terms with the seller that in its view would be in the best interests of Seven & i's shareholders and partners — according to Polish reporting, price was the sticking point. The negotiations thus ended after around eight days; Seven & i still intends to pursue European expansion. Żabka's share price had risen 15.9% at one point on 16 July, to a record level, on news of the talks.
