Ostbayernring 380kV power line is now fully energised

On 14 July TenneT energised the last two of the four construction sections of the Ostbayernring — the 185 km 380 kV extra-high-voltage line between Redwitz (Upper Franconia) and Schwandorf (Upper Palatinate) is now fully on the grid. The new route quadruples transport capacity compared with the 1970s-era line it replaces (planning had been under way since 2014); dismantling of the old line is due to be completed by the end of 2027.
