VW software unit Cariad to cut around 1,000 jobs

The management of Volkswagen's software subsidiary Cariad announced further job cuts at a staff meeting on 30 September 2026; according to dpa, citing company sources, around 1,000 of the roughly 4,300 remaining positions are affected, while IG Metall puts the total at about 1,600 of 4,200 jobs. Cariad also terminated key collective agreements with IG Metall; timing and implementation are still open, and the works council points to the job-security agreement that runs until 2029.
