- BMDS and SPRIND launch a test environment for the state EUDI wallet
Organisations can test wallet functions in advance, starting with PID-based identification; first stage for the public planned for early 2027
The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation (BMDS) and the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation (SPRIND) have launched a sandbox (test environment) for the upcoming state EUDI wallet (digital wallet). Organisations are given the opportunity to try out key functions early and test their own use cases in practice. Initially, the focus is on digital identification via personal identification data (PID). In the further course, electronic credentials can also be tested. Findings feed directly into technical further development. Publication of the first stage for the general public is planned for early 2027 (digital ID card and driving licence available on mobile). Third-party solutions can only be certified around 12 months after the launch of the state application.
