- China places 14 EU entities on its export control list in retaliation for the 21st Russia sanctions package
Chinese companies may no longer supply dual-use items to the listed firms, and foreign companies are likewise barred from providing them with dual-use items made in China. Those affected are mainly defence, electronics and drive-technology manufacturers.
On 24 July 2026 China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) added 14 EU entities to its export control list for dual-use goods. Those confirmed by name are German defence group Rheinmetall, Italian electric motor maker Lafert SpA, French drone manufacturer Cavok UAS, Czech vehicle builder Tatra Trucks and Germany's Sindlhauser Materials GmbH; the full list of all 14 entities was not published in the sources reviewed. The measure is a direct response to the EU's 21st Russia sanctions package adopted on 23 July, which covered 14 Chinese and Hong Kong companies. A MOFCOM spokesperson justified the step by citing the protection of national security interests and the fulfilment of non-proliferation obligations.
