Following the federal funding notice of November 2025, work on charging infrastructure for the Pfalznetz battery trains can begin: short overhead-line sections for charging will be built at the five stations Winden, Landau, Pirmasens Nord, Kusel and Lauterecken-Grumbach, and the mountain section from Pirmasens Nord to just before the main station plus track 39 at Kaiserslautern will be electrified. The Stadler FLIRT battery trains are to run on about 240 km of line from mid-2026 and save up to five million litres of diesel a year; funding comes under the GVFG, with no amount given. The date is a placeholder: only the end of 2029 is given for the last construction phase (LOK Report, 14 Nov 2025).
