The board mill Frischfaser Karton in Baiersbronn (Black Forest), in business for over 75 years and insolvent since June 2026, is ceasing operations entirely in September 2026 after investor talks failed; around 220 employees lose their jobs (reported 7 September 2026). High energy costs and the persistently weak state of the European paper and board industry are cited as causes.
